Official Launching of 1Malaysia Contemporary Art Tourism 2013

The launching of Malaysia Contemporary Art Festival 2013 was held at KL Convention Centre. At 11am, a steady flow of supporters and friends of MCAT were gradually coming into the hall with great anticipation of MCAT 2013 activities. Most of the art enthusiasts were curious about the new highlights for this year`s event.

The event begins with a performance from a violinist and cellist

 




YB Dato` Seri launches the Art Tour Shuttle accompanied by a tour guide and a group of foreign tourists. The Art Tour Shuttle is a new initiative by Tourism Malaysia to pick up tourists from 12 selected hotels to 7 participating shopping malls in the city centre to be accessible to art.  




While the programme is going on, Salleh Dawam (artist) silently sits at a corner to sketch a portrait of the Minister. Towards the end of the programme, he presents the portrait to YB Dato` Seri.  



YB Dato` Seri demonstrates a great support towards local artists by gathering them together, the success of Tourism Malaysia's initiatives are entrusted in the hands of artists as well as art galleries, art media and art institutions. With all these collective effort, surely this will positioned our nation to be an art tourism destination.
